FREERIDE

You've done the weekend freeride trips. You know what deep snow feels like and you want more of it - more terrain, more vertical, more days where nobody's tracked the line before you. That's Goderdzi.

We're PVD Club, and we've been running this trip for years. A snowcat — not a snowmobile, the tracked machine that hauls a whole group up in one go — takes you straight to the ridgelines instead of making you fight for a lift ticket. No queues, no crowds, just forest lines, open bowls, and steep faces that most skiers have never even heard of.

Why Riders Keep Coming Back to Goderdzi

Goderdzi sits in Adjara, on the Lesser Caucasus, and it's honestly one of the snowiest resorts in Georgia. The snow falls light and dry, and more than one of our guides has compared it to Japanese powder — not as a sales line, but because that's what it actually feels like underfoot. The terrain does the rest: forest corridors that hold snow all week, open alpine fields, and enough vertical to keep a group moving without repeating a line.

We're rated Excellent, based on 70+ reviews — riders keep coming back to us not just for Goderdzi, but for trips across Georgia. See the full range of what we run on our ski tours page.

If you're new to freeride and want to get a feel for off-piste riding before committing to a full cat-ski week, start with our Goderdzi freeride school — it's the easiest way in, and it makes the week that follows a lot more manageable.

Our customers' reviews

The Week, Day by Day

Day 1 - Arrival. Drive in from Tbilisi or Kutaisi, check into the hotel and settle in. That evening: meet the group and your guides, run through the week ahead, and have dinner together.

Day 2 - Reading the Snow. Your guides watch how everyone rides — how you handle deep snow, how you move on the slope — and split the group into subgroups so routes and pace actually match ability instead of averaging everyone out. After lunch: the first cat-ski session of the trip, about 4 hours, easing into the week.

Day 3 - North Faces. The first full riding day. North-facing terrain holds that light, dry structure longest because the sun barely touches it. Expect 5-7 hours on the mountain and roughly eight runs. Before you go, read our breakdown of gear and avalanche safety for cat-skiing in Goderdzi - better to sort your kit at home than on the drive up.

Day 4 - South Faces. The cat moves the group to the opposite side of the mountain. Different light, dense snow, a different feel underfoot. Expect 5-6 hours on the mountain and 5-6 runs, with a lunch break midday.

Day 5 – Full Cat-Ski Day. Another full day of riding, with the guides choosing the terrain according to the current snow conditions and the group's level. Expect several runs throughout the day, with the focus on finding the best available snow rather than sticking to a fixed route.

Day 6 - Optional Cat-Ski Day. The fifth day of cat-skiing is optional and depends on weather, snow and avalanche conditions. If everything lines up, the group can head out with the guides for another full day in the mountains. If conditions are not suitable, take the day to rest, explore the area or simply recover before departure.

Day 7 - Departure. Pack up, check out and drive back to Kutaisi or Tbilisi. Most riders are already asking about the dates next before they've left the van.

Who Should Book This

Straight answer: this isn't a first-timer trip. It's built for riders who already ride confidently off-piste, can read a line, and move well as part of a group. If you're still building that base, start with the freeride school — most riders who take that route come back stronger and get far more out of the full week.

FAQ

How many runs do you actually get?
4-6 a day on average, more over a full week — it depends on weather, snow, and group pace. We'll never push for one more run at the cost of safety.

What gear do I need?
An avalanche kit - transceiver, probe, shovel - is mandatory, no exceptions. Full packing guidance is in our gear and safety guide. No kit of your own? We can arrange a rental locally.

Can I combine this with another trip?
Yes — the usual path is freeride school first, then this week, then our more independent freeride tours across Georgia.

What's the difference between this and Goderdzi Powder Forest?
This is the classic week: rotating north, south, and east exposures with a rest day built in. Goderdzi Powder Forest is the longer, more intensive option for returning riders.

How do I get there?
Round-trip transfer from Tbilisi and Kutaisi is included. Early departure, to make the most of daylight on the mountain.
