Svaneti: Skitouring Amidst Majestic Peaks
Svaneti, where rugged mountains meet ancient traditions, creates a captivating backdrop for skitouring. This program is crafted for those ready for physical challenges and eager to explore the snow-laden landscapes of the Caucasus.
Svaneti Tour Itinerary
The four-day Svaneti tour blends adventurous routes with cultural immersion:
- Day 1: Arrival in Mestia
An early departure from Tbilisi ensures arrival in Mestia, Svaneti's heart, by 4:00 PM. After settling into a guesthouse, a guide-led briefing covers routes, mountain lodging, and safety protocols. The evening includes a stroll through Mestia's historic streets, immersing participants in the region's unique charm. - Day 2: First Skitour Day
Post-breakfast, a cable car ascends to 2000 meters, launching the skitour. Participants can expect 2–3 descents on picturesque slopes. Guides assess the group's skills to plan a two-day mountain trek with an overnight stay. - Day 3: Ascent to the Pass
An early rise and quick breakfast precede a transfer to the trailhead. By 9:00 AM, the group begins a 4–5-hour climb to 2400 meters. Upon reaching a mountain lodge, gear is stored, followed by a short, unencumbered hike to a nearby ridge for breathtaking views. - Day 4: High-Altitude Descents
The morning starts with a climb to 3000 meters, where 2–3 untouched descent lines are selected. After skiing, the group retrieves gear from the lodge and descends to Mestia, where a transfer to Tbilisi awaits.
Why Svaneti is Unique
Svaneti's pristine slopes hold powdery snow long after storms, offering ideal skitouring conditions. The region's medieval towers and warm hospitality add a cultural depth, making the tour a blend of adventure and heritage.
Feedback from our customers
Nikita ChesnokovAny trip with PVD was a true adventure to remember for me! I've had 4 of them already, including one 1-week hiking trip, and really looking forward for more in the future.
Sergey FGreat guys. I've been to a lot of places with them over the past two years: Juta, Lake Abudelauri, Lake Udziro, Tusheti, and ascents of Ortsveri and Kazbek.
Ivan SemerA good and convenient service for renting camping equipment. Thank you, I'll be using you again.
Alexey AzarovAn excellent tour operator for various tours in Georgia and beyond. I've traveled with them several times to Gudauri, Bakhmaro, and Tusheti, and each time I got more than I expected. The organizers are friendly but not pushy, ready to help with any difficulties, offer advice, support, and join in on fun projects. They're also willing to accommodate any unusual requests, like renting equipment and leading a wave ski tour up that mountain. For me, these guys offer the best value for money, and I definitely plan to travel with them again.
Kristina KuzhalI went with the guys to Kazbek – this ascent will remain in my heart forever! Thanks to the guide, Gleb, you're incredible! Everything was clearly organized and coordinated. The atmosphere was friendly and fun, but at the same time, everything regarding safety and time limits was strictly adhered to. And the food! Mmmmm... the cocoa alone at 3653 meters was worth it! We were always well-fed, instructed, and the guide was always there to help and support us. This was my first trip where absolute confidence in the guide and team inspired me personally. It was interesting, exciting, and challenging in places, but absolutely comfortable, calm, safe, and fun. Thank you!
Dmitry DrozdWhen's the next tour, guys? After a successful climb of Kazbek, I definitely need to do a few more! Our guide, Gleb, was very helpful in resolving any issues along the way, clearly defined the weather window for the climb, and our group was the first on the mountain. It's a small thing, but it's important! Anyway, see you there! I'm thrilled with the organization of the tour!
Sergey IodoThank you to your team for an unforgettable climb of Kazbek! Everything was perfectly organized, the guide was super professional, supporting and motivating at every step. We reached the summit and had a ton of incredible experiences!
Yana SavishevaWe traveled with our family and rented a car from these guys. Everything went great: the car was in good condition, and we had no problems. Communication was quick and pleasant. We had only positive experiences. We highly recommend them! :)Showing our latest reviews

Bakhmaro: A Powder Paradise for Freeride and Skitour
Bakhmaro, a remote gem in Georgia's highlands, is renowned for heavy snowfall starting in late November, with forecasts often predicting up to 33 mm of snow in 4 hours. This secluded region is perfect for those seeking deep powder and tranquil routes.
Getting to Bakhmaro
The journey begins with an early morning minivan ride from Tbilisi to a nearby village, followed by a snowmobile transfer due to impassable winter roads. An optional Friday evening departure with a Kutaisi stopover is available, with accommodation costs separate.
Required Gear
Participants should bring:
- Avalanche safety kit: beacon, probe, shovel.
- Freeride backpack.
- Skitour equipment: skis, splitboard, or snowshoes.
PVD Club provides some gear, with rentals available in Tbilisi or Gudauri. Pre-trip coordination ensures all equipment needs are met.
Bakhmaro Program Options
Bakhmaro offers two riding styles:
- Catski with Ratra
Renting a ratrak allows rapid summit access, enabling 5–6 descents daily with 500-meter elevation drops. Ideal for those prioritizing time on the slopes. - Skitour Ascents
Climbing on skis, splitboards, or snowshoes takes about 2 hours per ascent, yielding 1–2 descents daily with similar elevation drops. Perfect for those who enjoy a slower, nature-immersed pace.
Both options provide access to untouched slopes with light, fluffy snow.
Gudauri: Freeride and Skitour at Georgia's Premier Resort
Gudauri, Georgia's most developed ski resort, caters to all skill levels, from gentle slopes for beginners to challenging red runs for seasoned riders. Freeride and skitour programs offer adrenaline-pumping off-piste adventures and tailored routes.
Gudauri Weekly Program
The week-long Gudauri tour combines skiing, relaxation, and cultural exploration:
- Guided Daily Riding
A professional guide accompanies the group, selecting routes based on skill levels. Beginners can hone skills on two learning slopes, while experienced riders tackle red runs or off-piste freeride routes. Skitour options are available upon request. - Evening Activities
Post-ski evenings feature board games, fostering a friendly atmosphere. One evening includes a relaxing visit to a Finnish sauna. - Excursions
Mid-tour, the group explores a mineral valley or scenic waterfalls, adding a nature-focused break to the itinerary. - Beginner Support
Those new to skiing or snowboarding can book lessons with an instructor to build confidence on the slopes.
Gear Rental in Gudauri
For without those personal equipment, PVD Club reserves skis and snowboards for all levels at the resort, ensuring a hassle-free experience.
