2027 Ski Season in Georgia: PVD Club Tour Dates

It's best to plan your winter in advance, as good dates are often snapped up before the first snow falls in the mountains. We at PVD Club have already compiled the schedule for the 2027 ski season and decided to share the details: what runs will be available, how they differ, and which ones are best for you. We'll also discuss how to choose a tour so that a week in the mountains doesn't turn into a compromise between expectations and reality.

When does the real season begin in Gudauri?

The resort is considered the most developed in Georgia, and this is reflected in the length of the season. Snowfall is regular, with a dense cover lasting from December to April, and winter temperatures on most days range from -7 to -1 degrees Celsius, without extremes. If natural snowfall is insufficient, the slopes along the Pirveli and Soliko cable cars are supplemented with artificial snow, ensuring skiing is not disrupted by the vagaries of the weather.

The season traditionally opens with a New Year's tour at the end of December, followed by regular trips, which we have scheduled until mid-March. For most people, the best time is between mid-January and early March: there's plenty of snow, the trails are well-maintained, and the daylight hours are noticeably longer than in December.

A Week's Tour: Time to Really Progress

Seven days on the slopes offer something you can't get in a weekend. The first two days are spent getting used to the altitude, the snow, and your own feet, but then the fun begins, when your equipment stops falling apart by lunchtime and you truly experience the thrill of speed. A week-long ski trip to Gudauri is built around this feeling.

A guide accompanies the group every day. Beginners will enjoy at least two practice runs, while those already confident on skis or snowboards will find red runs below the lift. If you're looking to improve your technique, you can take a lesson with an instructor, either group or private, and video ski analysis helps you spot mistakes that might otherwise be invisible.

The program isn't just about skiing. In the evenings, we play board games, halfway through the tour, we head to a Finnish sauna, and one day we go on an excursion to waterfalls, an arch, and a valley of stones. Equipment for the group is reserved in advance, so upon arrival, all that's left to do is try it on and hit the slopes. We'll be staying in a trusted hotel with authentic Georgian cuisine, which will make any thoughts of dieting seem like a distant memory until spring.

Weekly race dates for the 2026/2027 season:

  • January: 10-16 and 24-30;
  • February: 7-13 and 14-20;
  • March: 28.02-6.03 and 7-13.

Those traveling as a couple or in a group should know that personal discounts apply when booking for two or more people.

Freeride Camp: A Week Off-Piste

For those who lack prepared slopes, we offer a freeride camp in Gudauri . It's seven days, beginning with your first confident turns on powder snow and ending with an ascent of Mount Ortsveri at 4350 meters. It sounds ambitious, but the format is designed to allow a group to comfortably accommodate a person putting on skins for the first time and a rider with years of backcountry experience.

The camp's main principle is that groups are limited to five people. This isn't a marketing ploy, but a matter of safety and quality: with this group size, the guide has time to work with everyone's equipment, react quickly to weather and snow conditions, and avoid rushing the group along the route. The pace, slopes, and difficulty are tailored to the participants' actual skill level, not the level they specified when booking.

The week is structured so that skills are built step by step. First, there's skiing at the resort, with a technique assessment and mandatory avalanche search and rescue training. Then comes a ski tour to Deda Yena, a navigational ascent to Bidara, and a descent through the Aragvi forest, where you learn to read trees and recognize hidden terrain. The finale is in Kazbegi: an ascent to a weather station at 3650 meters, an overnight stay in a hut, and an early glacier climb with ropes and crampons to the Black Cross and on to the summit, weather and group conditions permitting.

Camp dates in 2027:

  • February 1-7;
  • February 15-21;
  • March 8-14;
  • 15-21 March.

It's worth assessing your abilities in advance. Ski touring days and the Ortsveri ascent require six to ten hours of effort and an altitude gain of 1000-1200 meters per day. Participants must be 18 years of age or have written parental consent. We provide avalanche equipment (transmitter, probe, and shovel), snowshoes, trekking poles, and a backpack, but insurance covering freeriding, ski touring, and mountaineering is mandatory and must be obtained independently. If you'd like to understand what this activity entails, check out our extensive article on freeriding and ski touring in Georgia , where we cover the region's specific features, seasonality, and preparation.

When time is short: three days or one

Not everyone can get away for a week, and we take that into account. For those who don't want to take a long break from work, we offer a three-day tour to Gudauri , departing on Friday. You'll return to the city on Sunday with a mountain tan and no sense of missing out. It's a great way to experience the resort and decide whether it's worth returning for a longer stay.

For a shorter trip, a one-day tour to Gudauri is ideal . It's perfect if you're already in Tbilisi and want to spend a day in the snow without having to rearrange your entire travel schedule.

Goderdzi: cat-skiing and deep snow

If you're looking for more descents and fewer climbs, a freeride week with cat-skiing in Goderdzi will suit you perfectly. Goderdzi is considered one of the snowiest places in Georgia: snow lies here from mid-December to April, the terrain is soft, and the dense forests and open fields provide ample space for long lines across the powder. A snowmobile/snowcat takes the group to the top, so they have enough energy for more descents.

The program includes skiing across wide fields and through dense forest, where each descent requires careful avalanche safety assessment. In the evenings, you can recuperate in the sauna and prepare for the next day. This trip requires confident off-piste skiing and avalanche gear. This route is especially popular with those who enjoy deep snow and want to get as many runs as possible in a day.

Dates of arrival in Goderdzi:

  • January: 11-17 and 25-31;
  • February: 8-14, 15-21 and 22-28;
  • March: 1-7 and 8-14.

Freeride in Kazbegi: April season finale

The season closes with freeride in Kazbegi with a race from April 5 to 11, 2027.

The base is Stepantsminda, a village at an altitude of about 1740 meters at the foot of Kazbek, above which rises a peak of more than five thousand meters, and on the slope stands the famous Gergeti Church.

The area has long been a favorite among ski tourists and riders: the spacious slopes, high peaks, and panoramic views of the Main Caucasus Range create that very high-altitude atmosphere that draws people to the Caucasus.

How to choose your format

Sometimes it's better not to scroll through programs endlessly, but to honestly answer yourself a few questions:

  • What is your level? A beginner will find a week-long tour with an instructor sufficient, a confident skier will benefit from red runs and free days, and an experienced rider will benefit from a camp.
  • How much time do you have? For progress, seven days are better, three days are enough to get to know the resort, and one is enough to try it out.
  • How prepared are you for the load? Freeride camp requires physical fitness, which should be prepared in advance, whereas a regular ski tour is much more relaxed.
  • Who are you traveling with? Groups and couples of two or more can expect discounts, and the camp's small group size allows for more personalized attention.
  • What do you want besides skating? The week-long tour includes a sauna, excursions, and evening activities, while the camp focuses on lectures and practical training.

What to do before your trip

The good news is that you don't have to worry about preparing alone. If you haven't been to the resort yet, check out our complete guide to Gudauri : it's packed with everything you need to get your bearings, from the slopes to the essentials. Plan your clothing and gear in advance, and if you don't have your own skis or snowboard, we'll reserve rentals for your group. And don't delay choosing a date: the convenient February ski seasons are traditionally the first to go.

The 2027 season promises to be action-packed: week-long races from January to March, four dates of freeride camps with Ortsveri in the final, and shorter weekend and day-long formats. There's something for everyone, from those just learning the ropes to those who've long dreamed of a four-thousand-meter-high summit. Choose your date, and we'll take care of the rest.
