Day 1. Tour to Kazbegi at 3600 meters
Our adventure begins with a move to the cozy village of Stepantsminda, hidden at the foot of the mighty Kazbek. The road here is already part of the magic. We drive through picturesque gorges, where the mountains sometimes embrace us, sometimes open up into vast panoramas. In Stepantsminda, we are greeted by fresh air and a feeling that time flows differently here.
From the village, we change to SUVs and rush to the Gergeti plateau at an altitude of 2175 meters. Here, as if hovering above the clouds, stands the ancient Trinity Church. Its silhouette against the snowy peaks of Kazbek is a shot that we want to capture not only in a photo, but also in our hearts. The church, built in the XNUMXth century, seems unattainable, but we are already here, and the view around us makes us hold our breath.
Why is the church so high? Georgians believe that to be closer to God, you need to make an effort. The climb to the temple is a test and a reward at the same time. Legend has it that the Holy Mother of God herself indicated the place for the church. Also, during the Persian invasions, the cross of St. Nino, one of the main shrines of Georgia, was hidden here.
From the church we start our journey along the trail. We walk through flowering mountain meadows, past moraine fields, where every step reveals a new landscape. Our goal is the Sabertse Pass at an altitude of 2970 meters. Tired? It dissolves in the beauty around us. In the evening we arrive at a mountain guest house. Here a hot dinner, warm company and a sunset await us that will give us goosebumps. Sleeping under the stars in the mountains is like embracing the whole world.

Kazbegi Day 2.
Getting up early is no reason to grumble. Morning in the mountains smells of freedom. We begin our ascent along the Gergeti glacier to the weather station at an altitude of 3700 meters. This place is a legendary assault camp for mountaineers. Here we feel like part of something great. And if we have enough strength, we climb even higher - to the Bethlehem Church at 4000 meters. They say that hermit monks once lived there, and this place still breathes their solitude.
After lunch at altitude, we descend back to the Gergeti plateau. Each step down is time for reflection. We return to Tbilisi with a backpack full of emotions, photos and stories. These two days are not just a journey, but a meeting with ourselves.

Gergeti Church: Living Breath of Mountains and Legends
At the end of the last century, after many years of oblivion, prayers began to sound again in Gergeti. The monastery, revived within these walls, became a symbol of spiritual renewal. The monks carefully preserve the sanctity of the place, maintain order and welcome pilgrims. They do everything so that everyone who crosses the threshold feels warmth and peace.
Gergeti Church is not only a spiritual center, but also a magnet for travelers. Not only believers come here, but also those who want to breathe in the mountain air and touch history. This is a place where everyone will find something for themselves.
Imagine standing in front of an ancient church with a bell tower, and behind it are the mighty slopes of the Greater Caucasus Range. Somewhere up there, in the clouds, hides the majestic Kazbek. Its peak is visible only on clear days, but the mountain weather is capricious, like the mood of an artist. Locals say that Kazbek opens its summit only to those with a pure heart. Do you believe in such legends? See for yourself!

Why are Gergeti's landscapes so captivating?
Mountains. The Caucasus Range creates a backdrop that is impossible to take your eyes off.
Kazbek. Its snowy peak is like a challenge for the soul and eyes.
Silence. Here you will hear only the wind and your thoughts.
Advice: come on a clear day to see the mountain in all its glory. But even if Kazbek is hidden in the clouds, the scenery around the temple will not leave you indifferent.
Legends that live
Gergeti is not only stone walls, but also stories that are passed down from generation to generation. One of the most famous is associated with the miraculous icon of Our Lady of Gergeti. In the 30s, when the communists banned services and set fire to the church, the flames raged for three days. But neither the church nor the icons were damaged. Only the face of the Virgin Mary darkened with soot, as if having absorbed the pain of those years.
This icon, painted in the 17th century, is still kept in the church. Pilgrims from all over the North Caucasus once flocked here to pray and find solace.
And in 1989, on the day of the Assumption, a miracle happened. Before the eyes of many people, the image of the Virgin Mary appeared in the haze and hovered over the temple for 20 minutes. This event is still discussed by both locals and tourists. Whether you believe in miracles or not, the atmosphere of Gergeti makes you think about something more.
What will we take with us?
The feeling of freedom that the mountains give.
Photos that we will look at again and again.
Stories we'll share with friends over a glass of wine.
Kazbegi is a place where we test our strength, find inspiration and learn to appreciate simple things: the warmth of a fire, a fellow traveler's smile, the silence at sunset. There is no fuss here, just us and nature. And the horses that roam freely near the Trinity Church add a special charm to this place. We pack a backpack, put on comfortable boots and set off for Kazbegi. These two days will change us.
