Climbing program to Kazbek

Day 1. Departure from Tbilisi and ascent to the Altikhat shelter

We leave Tbilisi for Kazbegi. The journey takes up to three hours. Then we head to the mountains! We will approach the Gergeti Monastery. Our route will start from here, we will walk 10 km a day and stop for the night near the Altihat stationary shelter and spend the night. This will be our first acclimatization night before ascent to Kazbek. Be sure to check it out Reviews of the Kazbek ascent, to draw conclusions.

Day 2. Gergeti Glacier and acclimatization at the weather station

In the morning we go to the moraine of the Gergeti glacier, and then cross the glacier itself. This section of the glacier is almost always walked in regular shoes, but depending on the weather, if necessary, wear crampons. After the glacier there is a short climb to the Weather Station, where we plan to spend the night in our tent camp before climbing Kazbegi

At the Meteorological Station we will have a day of rest, and according to our plan, we will engage in training exercises or take a walk higher to adapt the body to the altitude.
