Guest House

Juta is not just a village lost in the mountains of Georgia. This is a place where silence pierces the soul, and mountain peaks awaken primordial delight in the heart. High above sea level, at an altitude of 2200 meters, Juta seems to be hiding between the slopes, watching the rare guests who dared to get here.

Freeriding in Juta is one of the most underrated and simultaneously most beautiful winter skiing formats in Georgia. The Juta, Sno, and Chaukhi massifs are located in the Kazbegi region and are perfect for those seeking true ski touring and freeriding in the wild mountains, rather than just piste skiing. There are no queues, no snowcats, and no crowded slopes. Instead, there are long approaches, panoramic views, couloirs, wide snowfields, and a sense of vast mountain expanses.

If you're interested in freeriding in Chaukhi, freeriding in Kazbegi, ski touring in Juta, and programs with guesthouse accommodation, this route is considered one of the most interesting options in Eastern Georgia. Juta is located at an altitude of approximately 2200 meters, and the surrounding area offers access to a number of ski touring lines and passes with good skiing potential depending on the weather, wind, and snow conditions.

What riders especially appreciate in this area:

natural relief for long descents;
good potential for photo and video content;
lack of overloaded resort infrastructure;
the ability to adapt the program to the group;
a strong visual impression from the Chaukhi massif.

WHAT'S SO BEAUTIFUL ABOUT JUTE?

  • deep snow in the couloirs
  • beautiful views of the Chaukhi ridge
  • a wild and undeveloped place for freeriding
  • the opportunity to feel like you are in the Dolomites
  • great angles for freeride descents
  • nice approach on ski tour

We are ski touring to the top of Dzhut, overcoming a climb of about 1200 meters. This is not just a walk in the snow - this is a real immersion in the elements of the mountains, where new lines of descents open up around every turn. Long, breathtaking descents on powder snow, wide glades and steep slopes for the bravest await you. After a busy day, a warm guest house awaits us, where you can relax, recuperate and share emotions with like-minded people.

The main reason people come here is freeriding. There are no prepared tracks, it’s just you, your board and the wild nature. The snowy slopes of Juta offer a paradise for those who are not looking for easy ways. The slopes here are steep, covered with soft, powdery snow. You glide down the snow-white slope, feeling the wind burn your face, and your heart beats wildly with delight.

Those who are trying their hand at backcountry for the first time can use the services of guides. They will help you choose safe routes, because the mountains here do not forgive mistakes. For experienced riders, Juta is freedom in all its glory. Here you can ride for hours without meeting a single soul.

Relief and skating

Juta and its surroundings are a true paradise for freeriders and ski tour enthusiasts. It has everything: wide fields where you can leave your first tracks, and long couloirs, descending along which you feel like a part of this great element.

The peculiarity of this region is that many interesting spots are accessible only by ski tour. This means that you will have to work a little bit, climbing up, but believe me – every step is worth it. These places are known for their picturesque landscapes and endless possibilities for skiing.

The tour is suitable for those who:

— already has experience in freeriding;
- can confidently ski on different types of snow;
— wants to try ski touring in Dzhuta accompanied by a guide;
- looking for freeriding Chaukhi without the crowds;
— considers freeriding in Kazbegi as an alternative to Gudauri;
— wants to spend a few days in the mountains, staying in a guest house.

The overnight format is convenient for several reasons:

saves energy compared to constant moving;
allows you to start the route early in the morning;
makes freeride programs in Dzhuta for 3-4 days a reality;
gives more options for choosing lines depending on the weather.

Why freeriding in Juta and Chaukhi is best enjoyed in a 3-4 day format

A one- or two-day trip is good for a quicker format. But if the goal is to get a full-fledged freeriding experience in Kazbegi, see the terrain of Chaukhi, and not be dependent on a single weather window, then a multi-day program is much more comprehensive.

Advantages of the 3-4 day format:

more routes and skiing options;
higher chance of catching the best snow conditions;
less fuss and moving;
the ability to flexibly respond to wind and avalanche conditions;
full immersion in the Juta region.

What will be useful on a trip?

To fully participate in the program you will need:

  • Ski touring skis or splitboard with skins (it is better to arrange rental in advance, we can help);
  • Avalanche equipment (probe, shovel, beeper);
  • Warm clothing suitable for high altitude conditions.

You will find the following useful:

  • Insurance. It is better to take out a policy in advance so as not to worry about possible injuries.
  • Personal first aid kit. Colds, sprains, minor injuries - you can't predict everything. Painkillers, bandages and dressings may come in handy.
  • Sunglasses. Snow reflects the sun's rays, and without protection it will be hard on your eyes.
  • Thermal underwear. Only synthetics or wool! Cotton is not suitable - it does not wick away moisture and gets wet quickly.
  • Backpack up to 25 liters. Conveniently take water, spare clothes, snacks and accessories with you.
  • Charger. In the cold, your phone's battery drains faster. A portable charger will help you stay connected.
