Climbing Kazbek (5054 m)

Kazbek is one of the famous mountain ranges of the Caucasus, which is suitable for those who want to test themselves and their strength at altitude. This trip is not only a physical challenge, but also an opportunity to enjoy breathtaking landscapes. Climbing program to Kazbek is suitable for people with good physical fitness and includes all the necessary equipment. In case you do not have your own equipment, you can rent it in at our rental point in Tbilisi.

Kazbek Climbing Tour Program looks like that.

  • Day 1. Departure from Tbilisi to Kazbegi (about 3 hours on the road). The route starts from Gergeti Monastery, from where we head to the Altikhat shelter. Here the group will spend the first night for acclimatization.
  • Day 2. Ascent to the moraine of the Gergeti glacier and crossing it. If necessary, we will put on crampons. In the evening, arrival at the Meteorological Station, where we will settle into a tent camp and spend another night to adapt.
  • Day 3. Acclimatization hike to an altitude of 4200 m. After lunch, return to the base camp to rest and prepare for the assault on the summit.
  • Day 4. The ascent to Kazbek begins at night, in order to descend before dark. The ascent and descent take about 12-15 hours.
  • Day 5. Descent to the valley and return to Stepantsminda, rest at the end of the day.
  • Day 6-7. Reserve day in case of bad weather. If it is not needed, the group returns to Tbilisi or can spend it in the picturesque valleys of Sno or Truso.
  • Difficulty level: high. The route requires physical and technical preparation.

Climbing Tetnuldi (4869 m)

Tetnuldi is a mountain peak in Svaneti, the conquest of which will be an excellent choice for experienced climbers. Climbing Tetnuldi, Rated 3A, it requires overcoming steep rocky sections and steep snow slopes. This tour offers the opportunity to enjoy magnificent views of the Caucasus Mountains and get acquainted with the culture of the Svans, the indigenous people of the region.

The tour program is the following:

Itinerary:

  • Day 1. Transfer from Tbilisi to the foot of Tetnuldi. Ascent to the camp at the Nageb Pass (3400 m) and setting up camp.
  • Day 2. Ascension to the assault camp at 3700 meters. Along the way, magnificent views of the Svaneti Range and the famous Ushba open up.
  • Day 3. Training day on the glacier and rest before the assault.
  • Day 4. Ascent to Tetnuldi via Route 2B. From the summit, in clear weather, Elbrus and Kazbek are visible. Descent back to base camp.
  • Day 5. Descent to the valley and return to Tbilisi.

Difficulty level: high plus. Mountaineering experience is required.

Climbing Ortsveri

If you are ready for a longer and more difficult route, we suggest you consider Climbing Ortsveri peak. This route is suitable for those who want to test themselves at altitudes of up to 4258 meters, but are not yet ready for five-thousanders.

This tour is designed for 4 days, one of which is a reserve, in case of bad weather. For the ascent, you will need standard mountaineering equipment, which we can provide. For those who wish, we can arrange overnight stays in guest houses, and also make the ascent easier by entrusting part of the load to the horse.

On route You will have to overcome glaciers and snowy areas, as well as go through three passes and admire the majestic views of Kazbegi and the Sherkhota volcano. This is a great opportunity for those who want to test themselves in the mountains and feel the charm of mountaineering.

Conquering Mount Laila

For those who dream of starting mountaineering, we offer route to Mount Laila — one of the most beautiful peaks of the Caucasus, 4008 m high. This tour includes a trek through the forests and a base camp with a view of the legendary Ushba.

The route can be chosen with overnight stays in guesthouses or in tents, depending on your preferences. The program includes acclimatization hike to an altitude of 3300 meters and snow and ice training. The assault on the summit of Laila begins late at night to meet the sunrise at altitude. Such a short trip will allow you not only to enjoy stunning views, but also to feel the taste of a real mountain climb.

This is an adventure for those who are tired of monotonous walks and are looking for real challenges in the mountains. This is not just hiking: here we climb peaks and ridges, overcome rocky routes and impassable paths. Your 300 meters on the climb to Kazbek

This is a test for those who want to test their strength in the mountains. Climbing, which is designed for 13 hours, will start from Tbilisi to the Kazbegi region. The route reaches 3000 meters in altitude, and each climb is an opportunity to say to yourself: "Another 300 meters." You will encounter difficult climbs, difficult paths and steep slopes.

Distance from 12 to 25 km, depending on the difficulty route. And at the halt, participants will be provided with hot snacks and mountaineering equipment. Guides will closely monitor the condition of each participant.

How many days does it take to climb Kazbek?

The standard Kazbek ascent program lasts 7 days (including reserve days). This includes 5 main days for the route, plus 1–2 reserve days in case of inclement weather. This allows for comfortable acclimatization and increases the chances of a successful ascent.

What level of fitness is needed to climb Kazbek?

The route is challenging. You'll need good physical fitness, stamina, and basic skills with crampons and an ice axe. Mountaineering experience is a plus. If you have any doubts, please contact us, and we'll help you objectively assess your readiness.

Do you provide climbing equipment?

Yes, we provide participants with all the necessary specialized equipment: crampons, ice axes, helmets, harnesses, and even trekking poles. You can bring your own personal gear (clothing, shoes, sleeping bag) or rent it from our rental shop in Tbilisi.

Is transfer from Tbilisi included in the tour price?

Yes, a comfortable group transfer from Tbilisi to Kazbegi (or Tetnuldi) and back is included in the tour price. You don't need to arrange transportation yourself.

When is the best time to plan an ascent of Kazbek in 2026?

The best time to climb Kazbek is from late June to September. We've already opened reservations for the 2026 Kazbek climb. We recommend booking in advance, as popular dates fill up quickly.
