Why take a Mont Blanc tour?
The Mont Blanc Trek (Tour du Mont Blanc, TMB) is one of the most beautiful and diverse multi-day routes in the world. Over 9–11 days, you'll hike the Mont Blanc massif—approximately 170 km (10 mi) with an elevation gain of approximately 000 meters—through three countries: France, Italy, and Switzerland.
This is a true alpine adventure that combines incredible beauty, physical challenge, and a wealth of emotions. Many say afterward, "Now I understand why people go to the mountains." If you're looking for a top-tier trek that will be unforgettable, choose a trek around Mont Blanc with PVD Club.

What is the format of trekking around Mont Blanc?
This isn't just mountain hiking, but a true alpine adventure that will leave a lasting impression! We travel completely autonomously—with tents, carrying everything we need ourselves, setting up our own camp, and immersing ourselves in the rhythm of nature and the mountains.
Over the course of the 10-day tour, we'll spend approximately five nights in well-equipped campsites. They have everything you need for a proper rest: a hot shower (a real treat after a day in the mountains), a toilet, a shared kitchen where you can easily cook dinner, and sometimes even electricity and Wi-Fi. On these days, you can get a good night's sleep, shower, sit with the group over tea, and simply relax.
The remaining 3-4 nights are truly wild romance. We pitch tents in beautiful and secluded spots: by a bustling mountain river, in a quiet gorge, or in a cozy clearing in the forest. There are no amenities nearby—just the stars above, fresh air, and a complete sense of freedom. It's these overnight stays that give you that "I'm truly in the mountains" feeling that many people choose this trek for.
Trekking around Mont Blanc strikes a perfect balance: there are days of comfort to recuperate, and then there are moments of complete immersion in nature, devoid of any civilization. This format is perfect for those who want to do more than just complete the route, but truly experience and live among the Alps.

What's on the menu for our Mont Blanc tour?
Mountain food is key to staying energized for the entire 10 days, so we make it filling, delicious, and healthy. Cooking as a group is always fun, fosters community spirit, and allows everyone to feel like part of the team. In the morning, before setting out on the trail, we have a hearty hot breakfast: oatmeal or buckwheat with dried fruit, nuts, and honey, sandwiches with cheese or cold meats, and tea or coffee to instantly boost our energy. During the day, we snack on the go: energy bars, nuts, dried fruit, vacuum-packed cheese, and a hot drink from a thermos to maintain our energy and avoid wasting time on long stops.
In the evening, after arriving at camp, we have a proper dinner: hot soups, pasta with sauce and meat or vegetables, buckwheat with stewed meat, sometimes even grilled meat, and for dessert, chocolate, cocoa, or cookies. We plan the meal in advance, focusing on meat products, dried fruits, nuts, and grains to ensure sufficient protein and energy. Vegetarians and vegans are catered for separately, preparing special meals with legumes, tofu, and vegetables, ensuring everyone is well-fed and no one goes hungry. The end result: you'll eat right and feel energized during the trek around Mont Blanc. And most importantly, you'll arrive at the finish line not exhausted, but energized and inspired.

What equipment do you need for a tour around Mont Blanc?
Gear preparation is key to a comfortable and safe trip. We don't just provide a list; we explain why each item is needed, how to choose it, and how it will help you in the mountains.
- Your backpack will be your "home" for 10 days, so choose a model with a capacity of at least 60 liters. It should be comfortable, with a ventilated back, adjustable straps, and a waist belt to distribute the weight (ideally 10-15 kg when full). This will prevent back pain and allow you to carry everything you need without discomfort.
- Thermal underwear is the basis of clothing: choose synthetic or wool (merino), it wicks away moisture and keeps you warm even on cool evenings at altitude.
- Hiking boots are your essential tools: boots with a Gore-Tex membrane for waterproofing, a rigid sole for rocky trails, and good traction. Break them in beforehand to avoid blisters.
- Clothing should be layered: a T-shirt and shorts for warm days, trekking pants made of quick-drying fabric to protect from wind and rain.
- Don't forget sunscreen (SPF 50+)—in the Alps, ultraviolet radiation is intense even on a cloudy day—plus a personal first aid kit with bandages, painkillers, antiseptic, and medication for allergies or altitude sickness.
- Trekking poles: reduce the strain on your knees on descents (up to 30%), help you balance on mountain passes, and even check the depth of snow.
- Flip-flops or Crocs are for camping: lightweight, so you can rest your feet after wearing boots and avoid getting your shoes wet in the shower.
- A cap or panama hat will protect you from the sun and rain, preferably with a mesh for ventilation.
We've also prepared a detailed backpack packing guide: how to distribute the weight (heaviest at the bottom), what to leave at home, and how to minimize bulk. This will help you pack efficiently and enjoy the trek, rather than struggling with your belongings.
We have also prepared a separate article about this best carried in a backpack during the tour around Mont Blanc.

What to take with you on a tour?
In addition to the general gear, here's what you should take personally.
- Hiking shoes: As mentioned, these are essential—choose proven models to ensure your feet won't let you down over the 170 km route.
- Sleeping bag, mat and tent: If you don't want to rely solely on the group option, bring your own sleeping bag (comfortable down to 0°C for alpine nights), an inflatable mat for insulation from the cold ground and a compact tent (but group options are available).
- Backpack: from 60 liters, as described above - test it on walks beforehand.
- Trekking poles: essential for stability on steep climbs and descents.
- Personal first aid kit: Add personal medications such as those for diarrhea, runny nose, or motion sickness, plus bandages and insect repellent—it's better to be safe than sorry in the mountains.
When packing, remember: less is more. Test your gear on short hikes to avoid surprises. This will make your trip not only enjoyable but also successful.
