Pyrenees: A Week-Long Hiking Trip
Mountain tour in Spain, Pyrenees.

When you want real mountain experiences without the multi-day treks with a 15-kilogram backpack, PVD CLUB offers a simple and well-thought-out format: a week-long hike in the Pyrenees. Ten days, seven of which are pure hiking, two rest days, and one day to protect you from the vagaries of the weather. No overnight stays at altitude, no heavy backpacks every day. Just easy hikes returning to the same cozy campsite.

Hiking in the Pyrenees starts in Barcelona and goes straight to the mountains
We meet in the capital of Catalonia. A minivan picks up the group directly from the airport or train station and takes them a few hours to the small mountain village of Benasque. The road is already beginning to inspire: first olive groves, then pine forests, and finally, snow-capped peaks of the Pyrenees. When you get out of the car, the air is different – cold, clean, with the scent of resin and grass. This is where the real journey through the Pyrenees begins.
A campsite you won't want to leave
Our home for the entire ten days is a comfortable campsite in the heart of the Pyrenees valley. We pitch tents two or three at a time, and it's dry and warm inside. The grounds have everything you need after a long day on the trail: hot showers, proper restrooms, a swimming pool for those who want to cool off, a large barbecue area, and a communal kitchen. In the evenings, you can sit by the fire, roast marshmallows, or just chat with new acquaintances. This isn't "Spartan" accommodation, but a well-designed base camp where you truly relax after seven hours of hiking.

Eating in the Pyrenees
In the morning, we have a hearty breakfast, which we prepare together. In the evening, we have a hearty dinner. During the day, we take a lunchbox with us: sandwiches, fruit, nuts, and chocolate. Along the way, the guide always provides tea and coffee—a hot thermos appears as if by magic at every convenient spot. No one is running around the supermarket wondering what to cook. Everything is planned so that you have enough energy until the evening.

Seven days – seven different stories in the Pyrenees
Each of the seven active days is designed to offer a new experience without feeling overwhelming. We set out in the morning after a leisurely breakfast, walking at a comfortable pace, stopping frequently for snacks, photos, and just to breathe. The routes are typically 8-12 km long, the elevation gain does not exceed 900 meters, and the total walking time is 5-7 hours, including breaks. In the evening, everyone returns to the campsite, where a hot shower and dinner await. No multi-day treks with heavy packs—just the joy of the mountains and the feeling of your body having time to recover. This is what ideal hiking in the Pyrenees looks like.
Day 1. Pico de Gías and La Tuca – Peaks with postcard views
A classic start to exploring the massif. The climb is gentle, the trail is clearly visible, and from the summits, almost the entire Pyrenees horizon opens up—from the snowy peaks of Maladeta to the green valleys below. The air here is especially clear, and the feeling of altitude comes not from fatigue, but from the sheer scale. It's the perfect day to feel, "Yes, I'm in the real mountains."
Day 2. Corones Lake – turquoise waters beckoning you to dive
One of the most picturesque routes in the valley. The trail leads through forest and alpine meadows to a small but incredibly vibrant lake with water the color of a tropical sea. Even in late summer or early fall, it's cool and quiet here—only the rustling wind and the occasional bird. It's here that many people first understand why they carry cameras into the mountains.

Day 3. Sections of the legendary GR-11 – along the main Pyrenean trail
The GR-11 is like the Great Caucasus Trek, only in Spanish. We'll hike one of the most beautiful sections near Benasque: beech and fir forests, open panoramas of the Posets and Bachimala massifs, and sometimes even views of distant Aneto. It's a quiet day, but with a sense of belonging to something greater—after all, people from all over the world have been walking this trail for decades.
Day 4. The Maladeta and Tuc de Molières region – a kingdom of lakes and snowfields
This is where a true high-altitude fairytale begins. The trail ascends to an area where tongues of snow still lie even in summer, surrounded by a chain of small lakes and granite ridges. Tuc de Molières offers an excellent view of the entire Maladeta massif and its glaciers. The day is a bit more "alpine," but without the technical difficulties—just more altitude and a more "wow" effect.

Day 5. Pico Tuca Salvaguardia – a viewpoint that spans half of Spain
This is one of those hikes worth the trip. From the summit of Salvaguardia (approximately 2738 m), you'll find perhaps the best view of all of Maladeta: Aneto, Posets, glaciers, valleys—everything is laid out in the palm of your hand. A 360-degree panorama, the wind in your face, and the feeling of being at the edge of the world. Many say this is where the switch flips: "I'm no longer just a tourist."
Day 6. Forau d'Aigualluts – waterfalls disappearing into the ground
A geological phenomenon and simply a beautiful place. The river disappears underground into the enormous Forau d'Aigualluts sinkhole, and nearby, cascades thunder. The trail winds through meadows, past waterfalls, and along the edge of the canyon. An easier day than previous ones—more admiration, less elevation gain, but no less exciting.
Day 7. Valle de Estós – Green Valley
The final chord is an easy but very atmospheric hike into the Estós Valley. Here you'll find lush vegetation, streams, shady areas, and views of the surrounding jagged peaks. You can reach the cozy Refugio de Estós and sit on the terrace overlooking the mountains. It's a day that leaves you pleasantly tired and eager to return.
