Hello everyone! As fans of trekking, adventures and travels, we love to share our impressions and today I will tell you about one of our favorite tours - a tour to Tusheti.
Tusheti tour! Many of you have already heard this name, living in Georgia or from various documentaries on YouTube. The region received its main fame due to the difficult road, which is included in the top 10 most dangerous roads in the world and is called the "Road of Death". 80 km of serpentine and crossing the highest pass in Europe, which can be driven by car. Height 2900 m. And now let me tell you how things really are, because the pvd-club team was there more than 2023 times in 10 alone with a total of more than 150 people. Spoiler - no one was hurt)))
The Tusheti tour starts in Tbilisi. The main difference from any other destination is that the road is a unique experience and part of the journey. The serpentine roads are long and challenging, and not every car can handle them, nor is every driver capable of doing so. The road is narrow, with a steep drop-off on one side and 180-degree turns uphill—all of this presents a true challenge. But we only work with trusted drivers and are always confident in the safety of both the group and ourselves.
In fact, if you remove all the fear, the road to Tusheti is one of the most beautiful and exciting places in Georgia. The views are amazing and delightful. The driving culture on the road is simply amazing, there are places for two cars to pass each other.
Each time I fell more and more in love with it and drove by with absolute calm, admiring the views. By the way, I saw tears of delight a couple of times while we were driving. I am not kidding)))
But what is all this for? I will answer. This is the most inaccessible region of Georgia with its own traditions, foundations, and way of life. For example, pigs are prohibited by law in the region, and women are prohibited from entering some areas of the villages. You can get to Tusheti from June to the end of September. The rest of the time the region is closed due to snow and ice on the road.

Tusheti
During inaccessible times of the year, almost all residents leave their homes. Houses are preserved, cattle are driven to Vashlovani. In each village there remain from 2 to 7 people. By the way, they also preserve their houses, leaving one small room to be heated, where they live. Food and medicine are delivered by helicopter once a month.
On our 3-day tour we live in one of the best guest houses in Omalo. This is the largest village in the region, and it is at an altitude of almost 2000m (yes, there are no cities here). There are few tourists and people in Tusheti; no one will stop you from admiring nature or being left alone with yourself and your thoughts.
We arrive in Omalo at about 15:360, just enough time to walk to Upper Omalo to the old defensive fortress. It is at the top of the village and gives a XNUMX view for many kilometers ahead. We return to the traditional very hearty and tasty dinner, where you can take part in khinkali making.
After dinner, you can take a sun lounger and admire the stars. Visibility is perfect. You can spend hours looking at the constellations and the Milky Way.
The next day, after a hearty breakfast, we set off by SUV to the villages of Diklo and Shenako. We visit another defensive fortress and make a short climb to the weather station to an altitude of 2700. If time and weather permit, we will be able to climb to the top of Mount Shavikwisha, 3209m. But this is at the request of the group. Trekking is accompanied by views of the majestic and harsh mountains of the Caucasus. This is how our second day goes. We return to our temporary home in Omalo, where a delicious dinner and stars await us again.
On the final day, we visit the village of Dartlo. The view of it is one of the most recognizable silhouettes of Tusheti. A large number of towers made of flat stones, narrow streets and the opportunity to try the famous local beer - will not leave you indifferent. But since we like to walk in the mountains, we still have an easy trek to the village of Kvavlo. At the top there are ruins of an old fortress, a small family cafe and a beautiful view of the valley. Well-fed and having walked enough, we return to the guest house for things and go to Tbilisi. Of course, the final attraction awaits us - the road.
In the opposite direction, new views open up, and indeed a new perception in general.
Definitely recommended to visit. We organize our tours on a turnkey basis. Meals, transfers, accommodation, guide support are already included in the price, and the tour itself will be cheaper than just a round-trip transfer.
