What is the Lycian Way?
The Lycian Way, or as the locals call it, Likya Yolu, stretches 540 km along the Mediterranean coast of ancient Lycia. It connects two magnificent cities - Fethiye and Geyikbayiri, located near Antalya. The route is well marked with red and white marks, so you will not get lost even if you get to the most picturesque corners.

One of the main attractions of the Lycian Way is its landscapes. You will enjoy stunning views of the sea, cliffs and mountains. The changes in altitude make the route interesting and varied: sometimes you go down to the sea and then climb up, opening up new stunning panoramas. Vast forests, bright flowers and crystal clear water of the rivers - all this awaits you along the way.
There are plenty of drinking water sources along the trail, but remember that they can sometimes dry up, so check the hiking maps for up-to-date information. History of the Lycian Way
Interestingly, the trail was organized thanks to British traveler Kate Clow, who in 1999 not only walked the route from start to finish, but also marked it. Her book “The Lycian Way” became a real guide for lovers of active recreation.
It is no wonder that the trail was included in the list of the most picturesque tourist routes in the world according to the Sunday Times. It combines not only incredible nature, but also many monuments of ancient cultures. Along the way you will come across ancient ruins that will tell you about the rich heritage of this area.
Western part: greetings from Ovacik
The beginning of your adventure is in the village of Ovacik, near Fethiye. There is a symbolic arch that welcomes all travelers. If you like paragliding, then Babadag Hill will definitely interest you - its breathtaking views attract height lovers from all over the world.
But don’t rush to soar into the sky. The first steps on the trail will be on an easy mountain path. You will move through picturesque villages surrounded by a traditional Turkish atmosphere and do not miss the opportunity to explore places like the Valley of the Butterflies and the ruins of the ancient Roman Letoon. And if you are looking for solitude, be sure to stop at one of the deserted beaches along the way.
Central part: adventure in the mountains
Eastern part: convenience and color
This part of the trail is especially popular among Russian tourists, and for good reason. You can fly to Antalya and start your journey right away. Or take a day or two to rest in the city to fully enjoy the Turkish flavor, get a good night's sleep, and prepare for the hike.
The eastern part of the trail begins in the village of Goynuk. Here you'll head to Harmony Canyon, where the azure lake delights the eye with its beauty. Don't forget about Gedelme, famous for its picturesque caves and historical ruins. Oh, and the patriarch plane tree, with a girth of 16 meters, is truly something. The transition from the canyon to the trail itself can be a bit confusing, so take your time and try to find the right entrance. Once you're on the trail, all doubts and difficulties will be forgotten, because true adventures await!

Western Lycian Way Tour Schedule
After meeting in Antalya, the group goes to the city of Kayakoy, where our tour starts. A walk through the ruins of an ancient settlement will lead to a secret bay of the Mediterranean Sea, where we will spend the first night to the sounds of the surf. On the second day - a hearty breakfast and off to the resort of Oludeniz! A couple of hours for a walk around the city and swimming in the turquoise sea, and then transfer to Mount Babadag (1700 m). Here we will begin trekking, during which we will climb to the top (1960 m) with a stunning view of the sea bays and the island of Rhodes. The descent through the pine forest will end with a delicious dinner and a discussion of impressions.
On the third day we will descend. We will see traces of ancient Lycia and perhaps meet turtles. After descending to a beautiful turquoise bay and the village of Kabak, we will stop at a quiet campsite with hammocks and a hot shower.
After a night at the campsite, we continue along the Lycian Way. The climbs will open up breathtaking views of the mountains and the sea. After passing through the villages of Alinka and Yediburinlar, we will set up camp at an altitude of 900 m, where after dinner we can chat under the evening sky.
The fifth day will be dedicated to a walk through olive plantations and pine forests. And on the sixth day we will head to one of the most beautiful beaches in the world - Patara. 12 km of sandy coast will provide an opportunity to find privacy and enjoy the tranquility.
The final day of our tour. After breakfast, we say goodbye to the sea and head to civilization, where a transfer to sunny Antalya awaits us. In the evening, if we have time, we can meet to share impressions of the exciting journey.
