HIKING IN THE MOUNTAINS
TUSHETI KHADORI
TUSHETI KHADORI

Imagine this: a dense ancient forest where every step echoes in profound silence, winding trails snaking between centuries-old trees, sudden openings onto vast alpine meadows with dizzying views of snow-capped peaks. All around — the living, almost timeless culture of the Kists (Georgia’s Chechens), whose ancestors have inhabited these gorges for centuries, preserving traditions, legends, and legendary Caucasian hospitality.
This isn’t just a hike. It’s a true journey at the crossroads of two worlds: the mysterious Pankisi Gorge and the wild, almost otherworldly beauty of Tusheti.
We also offer tours to Svaneti, Goderdzi, Bakhmaro and Gudauri, where you can truly unwind.
Trekking Program: Tusheti from Pankisi
Early departure from Tbilisi → transfer to Pankisi → trek start We embark on one of Georgia’s most atmospheric and unique routes. The trail leads deep into an ancient relict forest — the air thick with the scent of moss, ferns, damp earth, and pine. Gradually the forest opens up, revealing wide steppe clearings with breathtaking panoramas of mountain ridges and distant snowy summits.
Distance: approx. 10 km Elevation gain: ≈ 600 m Difficulty: moderate (suitable for most people in good physical condition, no special training required)
Midday — a long break with endless mountain views: hot tea from thermoses, delicious sandwiches, fresh homemade khachapuri, nuts, dried fruits, and chocolate. A moment to breathe, soak in the silence, take stunning photos, and recharge.
By evening we reach the overnight spot. Two options to choose from:
- Option A — romance under the stars We pitch tents on a scenic meadow overlooking the gorge. All gear provided: warm sleeping bags, mats, tents — comfortable camping under the Caucasus sky.
- Option B — true comfort Check-in at an authentic Kist guesthouse: cozy rooms, hot shower, homemade meals featuring local cuisine, house wine, and chacha.
The evening unfolds by the campfire (or on the cozy veranda): stories from experienced guides, Kist songs with guitar, a starry sky so bright it feels within reach.

Tusheti — Alpine Fairy Tale and the Power of the Caucasus Dawn among the mountains — one of the most magical moments. Breakfast, then we set off on the second stage of the trek.
Today: a real high-mountain hike through Tusheti — flower-strewn alpine meadows, light birch groves, rushing mountain rivers, and panoramas that take your breath away. The trail becomes more open — the Main Caucasian Ridge always in view.
Distance: 8–12 km (depending on the chosen variant) Elevation gain/loss: moderate
Along the way:
- incredible viewpoints overlooking the entire Caucasus
- encounters with wild horses and sheep herds
- optional dip in an icy mountain river
- delicious picnic lunch in nature
By 16:00–18:00 we return to the vehicles → comfortable transfer back to Tbilisi (arrival in the evening).
Night views and memories that last forever.
