A trip to Georgia in 2026 is an excellent way to begin your climb of Kazbek. Standing at an impressive 5,054 meters, Kazbek offers a rewarding technical challenge. Reaching the summit will push your limits and help you conquer your fears, all while guided by experienced professionals.
For our Kazbek climbs, we supply all necessary equipment, including climbing shoes. If you need other gear, such as climbing clothes, you can conveniently rent them from us in Tbilisi.
The climbing season for Kazbek from the Georgian side runs from early July to late September.

Day 1: Departure from Tbilisi to Kazbegi takes up to 3 hours. From there, we head towards the mountains starting at Gergeti Monastery. We’ll hike about 10 km and stay overnight near the Altihut stationary shelter, which serves as our first acclimatization stop before the main climb.
Day 2: We trek to the moraine of the Gergeti glacier and cross the glacier, usually doable in regular shoes but crampons may be needed depending on conditions. After the glacier, a short climb takes us to the Weather Station where we camp in tents. We’ll rest and do training exercises or short hikes to acclimate further.
Day 3: A long acclimatization hike to about 4200 meters lets us preview part of the summit route by day. After lunch, return to base camp to rest. This day also acts as a backup in case of bad weather.
Day 4: Summit day starts early around 1-2 am after tea and snacks. The ascent and descent take roughly 12-15 hours depending on group pace. We use crampons and practice rope techniques and ice axe handling on snowy slopes.
Day 5: After rest, we descend to the valley, arriving in Stepantsminda around 7 pm for final rest.
Day 6-7: Reserved for weather delays or rest days, with transfer back to Tbilisi arranged on day 6 or 7 by group and guide agreement.
