Cat-Skiing in Goderdzi 2027: Price, What’s Included

You have probably landed on a price of $1,850 for a cat-ski week in Goderdzi and done the same thing everyone does: stared at it, then opened a calculator. Is that fair? Is it a lot? What exactly are you buying?

Short version: it is a package price for a full week, not a per-day rate, and once you break it down the number stops looking scary. Let me walk you through it the way I would if we were sitting in a bar in Batumi arguing about it.

What a cat-ski week in Goderdzi actually costs

The standard package runs $1,850 per person for seven days, with a maximum of eight riders in the group. That is roughly $264 a day, and a day includes a snowcat, a guide, a bed, breakfast, dinner, snacks on the mountain and your transfer from Tbilisi or Kutaisi.

Compare that to a single day of private cat-ski anywhere in the Alps and the math gets embarrassing fast. A day of cat skiing in Europe easily costs $400–600 per person before you have paid for a hotel or a lift pass.

Full program and current dates live on the Goderdzi cat-ski page — worth reading before you keep going, because the format matters as much as the price.

What is actually inside the $1,850

  • Freeride guide — the person who reads the snow, picks the lines and keeps eight people alive and grinning
  • Snowcat for the whole program, with 4–6 proper runs a day
  • Accommodation in a hotel on the resort
  • Breakfasts and dinners, plus sweet snacks, tea and coffee
  • Snacks on the mountain during the riding day
  • Transfer from Tbilisi or Kutaisi and back
  • One visit to a sauna or bath — non-negotiable after six hours in powder

That is a fully assembled week. You are not hunting for a driver, negotiating with a snowcat owner, or wandering around at 8 pm looking for dinner.

Where the money actually goes

Two costs dominate: the machine and the guide.

A snowcat burns serious fuel, needs a mechanic and does not care that you only got four runs because the light went flat. Split that machine across a small group and the per-head cost is the single biggest line in the budget. In the package, the cat runs on a fixed schedule with a group that is already assembled.

Then there is the guide. Someone who knows which north-facing glades hold cold snow three days after a storm, where the wind-loaded roll is, and how to get eight people out of a tree run without losing anyone. That knowledge is the difference between a great week and a story about the time you walked out at dusk.

Where you overpay when you build it yourself

DIY is not cheaper here, and it is rarely better:

  • Assembling the group. The cat price is per machine. If you end up with five people instead of eight, your share jumps.
  • Transfers. A private transfer Tbilisi–Goderdzi is $220 per vehicle, from Kutaisi $300, and from Tbilisi airport $280. Solo, that is brutal. In the package it is already spread.
  • Hotel markup. Last-minute rooms on the resort in high season are not cheap, and the good ones go first.
  • Gear rental. Freeride skis, boots, a transceiver, shovel and probe add up day by day.
  • Weather days. This is the sneaky one. Book a cat privately, get a whiteout day, and you have paid for a machine that sits. On a program, bad-weather days are handled as part of the plan.

Single day vs full week

A single cat day makes sense if you are in Georgia for a week and want one big powder hit. It does not make sense economically — the fixed costs (cat, guide, logistics) land on one day instead of six.

Over a week you also get something a single day cannot give you: the guide learns how you ski. By day three the terrain gets noticeably more interesting, because you have earned it.

2027 dates

The season runs from December into April, and the confirmed cat-ski weeks are:

  • 11–17 January
  • 25–31 January
  • 8–14 February
  • 15–21 February
  • 22–28 February
  • 1–7 March
  • 8–14 March

February is the safest bet for snow depth. March usually brings longer days, warmer afternoons and a very good chance of fresh snow on top of a deep base.

What is not included

Be honest with your budget: flights, lunches, gear rental, insurance, alcohol and tips are on you. A realistic extra cushion is $200–400 for the week, depending on how much you like rental skis and wine.

FAQ

Is $1,850 expensive for a cat-ski week?

No. For a guided week with a snowcat, hotel, half board and transfers, it is competitive — especially compared with North America and the Alps, where the same week would be multiples of that.

Do I have to book the whole week?

The program is built as a week because that is when the format works best. If you only want a taste, ask — but expect the per-day value to drop.

How many people per cat?

Up to eight riders. Small enough that the guide actually knows what everyone is doing.

What if the snow is bad?

Goderdzi catches moisture from the Black Sea and holds snow well from December to April. You can still get a low-visibility day; that is when the guide’s local knowledge and forest terrain earn their keep.

Bottom line

You are not paying $1,850 for a snowcat ride. You are paying for a week where the logistics, the machine, the guide and the food are somebody else’s problem, and your only job is to ski powder in a forest most people have never heard of.
